Accelerator earns recognition
Technopoly Ltd has been in business producing Clever Software products for over 25 years.
Our first ever Accelerator customer was the local Ford dealership and service centre, they had an old Dos system that was failing. They needed a solution to replace it and Accelerator was born.
They wanted a workshop system that would be configured for their business with their logo’s on as well as the ability to find any vehicle and see its full history including parts and invoices. They also wanted it to link to Sage accounts. They are still using Accelerator today.
We then got an order from a major council for a fleet system to merge our workshop package with their requirements for full fleet information and documents, so we did that and on it went, with every customer since wanting something new as well as an ever-growing list of configuration options.
Today we employ 15 staff with our new main headquarters in Newquay Cornwall and our original development and support office up in Lancashire. We have a wide variety of customers all over the UK and beyond.
We are special because of our cutting edge, innovative software, that is backed up by an experienced team of developers. As a family business, we know all of our customers personally and go the extra mile to ensure that each system is configured to meet each customer’s needs. We also provide ongoing free updates and new special module developments which make Accelerator the most comprehensive system on the market today.
We provide all of our customers with their own My World web support portal where they can access their own details and support history as well as a range of FAQs, articles, and video training aids.
Whilst there are still some businesses using paper or spreadsheets to manage their fleets, there are clearly reasons to adopt digital document and management processes, and plenty of businesses have because of their speed, efficiency, and superior compliance. Technopoly’s Accelerator fleet and workshop software – over 23 years in the making, allows operators to do exactly that and manage their fleets’ documents and other data from one place.
The system is scalable and can be tailored to the suit large fleets, individual workshops, and everything in between. Fleet users can manage all aspects of DVSA compliance including advanced vehicle inspections to generate bespoke inspection templates, service sheets, and driver check routines. The new Dashboard module now includes the latest Earned Recognition Scheme interface that allows real-time monitoring of inspections, MOT’s and fault corrective actions.
“Going Digital with Accelerator enabled us to get rid of paperwork and significantly improve our workflows.”
Dominic Purslow, Jack Richards and Sons Ltd, General Manager
Workshop users benefit from an optional recovery desk function, which gives them control over the whole recovery process from start to finish and records elements such as times, mileages, job details, and parts used. Maintenance contracts can be set up using the fixed price contracts tool, covering single vehicles and fleets, advanced inspections can be developed. The ATF lane function allows for daily booking and cost control, along with a display on the main desk of any ATF lane preparation work that needs to take place.
Crucially, both the fleet and workshop forms of Accelerator include the firm’s Go Mobile function, which allows users to access it from anywhere and via the majority of mobile devices. Every piece of information available instantly including vehicle details, accident records, service history, parts information, inspection data, and documents, among other elements and users need only log into the system’s online portal via a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Both configurations of the Go Mobile software allow users to access technical data from anywhere, while the fleet version extends to remote driver functions, such as digital driver check cards with a full history database that employees can access from their devices, and it also provides a total view of all parts and their locations. Users can also see VOR reports, defects, reminders, and look up the details of any vehicle.
Workshops can also set up similar services for their customers, granting them access to their own vehicle information so they can identify whether or not they have any reminders due or outstanding faults, the main benefit being that the workshop doesn’t have to repeatedly send email reminders to customers. It’s also extraordinarily convenient for mobile technicians, both in the workshop to complete jobs in real-time and for remote van-based technicians who spend much of their day on the road and could do without a trip back to base simply to fill in some paperwork.
“Once we introduced Go Mobile we removed the need for paper records, this sped up the time to complete jobs and inspections, it was a revolution in our business.”
Steve Gilboy, Owner, APM commercials
Accelerator is a fully integrated complete system that holds information on every aspect of your vehicle fleet and equipment assets. This together with Go Mobile provides the perfect platform to manage and maintain any fleet and to run many types of commercial and specialist vehicle build and repair businesses.
The main advantage of Accelerator is that it enables customers to Go Digital and gets rid of paper files and processes. In addition to the normally expected features and functions, it also offers a comprehensive range of additional modules to provide specialist capabilities, such as Recovery, Haulage, MOT, Authorised Test Facility, New vehicle build, type approval, vehicle, plant and equipment hire, Standard jobs, Inspections, new and used tyre management, reporting and mobile connectivity, and all of this in one fully integrated system.
“Having gone Digital with Accelerator, we can now manage much better as we have all the information needed to run a more efficient and cost-effective business.”
Adam Burgess, Fleet Engineering Manager, Fagan & Whalley
With the introduction of our Go Mobile modules in 1998, we enabled our customers to have instant online access to their fleet and workshop information, on any device which together with a new KPI dashboard module has revolutionised the management of reminders, technicians jobs, inspections, and stock control.
More recently we have added driver checks, customer, and vendor access bringing even more benefits to our customers.
“We call it your fleet and workshop in your pocket.”
Even in these days of automation we never forget our heritage and ensure that someone is always available at the end of a phone if a customer needs help or advice or just a chat about a new requirement or emerging legislative requirements.
And so it was when the DVSA first proposed the launch of the Earned Recognition Scheme pilot a few years ago. We were in at the beginning and worked on several working panels to formulate the rules, but rather than just produce a quick product and be first to launch, we wanted to follow our strategy of full integration and make Earned Recognition a key part of Accelerator.
We have been working closely with the DVSA and individual fleet customers during the last 18 months to prepare them for the scheme and were delighted that Ferguson Transport Ltd of Corpach, Scotland were awarded their recognition in the latter part of 2019.
Ferguson have been using Accelerator since 2006, so over 13 years, the system has been used to look after all of their fleet of trucks trailers, specialist forestry vehicles, and even ships?
Says Jill Ferguson, “we were proud to work with the Accelerator team and appreciated their full support that helped us to become the first firm in Scotland to get this award.”
